The Buffalo Mass Mob will be heading to the city’s Lovejoy neighborhood for the second time when Mass Mob XXIV takes place on Sunday, October 15, 2017, at Sts. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church. We will be mobbing the church’s 10:00am Divine Liturgy service.

Sts. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church was established in 1894. It is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Here is some history of the church and parish community from the Buffalo as an Architectural Museum website.

The church is tucked away at 45 Ideal Street in the Lovejoy neighborhood. Like other older worship communities in Buffalo, the church has seen a decline over the years. The church is also in the midst if trying to raise money to fix the church’s dome. Mass Mob friend and local preservationist, Chrissy Lincoln, brought the church and dome to our attention. We decided it would be a good place to bring the Buffalo Mass Mob and help raise awareness about the church.

I grew up in Lovejoy in the 50’s and 60’s and, being Catholic, couldn’t enter this church. I am looking forward to seeing it finally. You may not know that this church was mentioned in Ken Follett’s Century Trilogy when he writes about the Russians who settled in Buffalo.
