Buffalo Mass Mob XI will take place on Sunday, June 28th, 2015 for 11:30 a.m. Mass at South Buffalo’s Saint Ambrose Church.

Established in 2013, the goal of Buffalo Mass Mob is to raise awareness of historic city churches by inviting people from all over Western New York to come to local house of worship the group chooses for Mass. The idea is a spin on the flash mob concept where people are asked to show up in large numbers at a public place to perform or do something unusual before quickly dispersing.

Started in Buffalo, the Mass Mob movement has spread across the United States to over twenty cities. Buffalo Mass Mob has received national and international press for their efforts. This Sunday, the Al Jazeera news network will be in Buffalo working on a story about Mass Mobs.

Saint Ambrose Church was established in 1930 as the Irish Catholic population grew in South Buffalo. The parish’s first pastor was the Rev. David A. Coughlin and the inaugural Mass at Saint Ambrose was held on July 20th of that year. The church is now part of Our Lady of Charity parish which also includes the worship communities of Holy Family and Saint Agatha churches. It is located at 65 Ridgewood Road in Buffalo.
