Join us for Buffalo Mass Mob VI at Assumption Church

The next Buffalo Mass Mob will take place on Sunday, October 5th, 2014 at Assumption Church in Buffalo’s Black Rock neighborhood.

Buffalo Mass Mob started in 2013 as way to draw attention to struggling Buffalo inner city churches. A mass mob is similar to a flash mob, but the idea centers around inviting people to come worship at a church organizers select. Each mass mob has brought hundreds of people to churches whose attendance has dipped over the years. Christopher Byrd, Buffalo Mass Mob co founder says, “The concept is simple. We want to showcase Buffalo’s historic churches, but we want the community to see them in their intended purpose. A lot of the city’s churches have fallen off people’s radar screens. This gives people who come to a mass mob an opportunity to share in the living and breathing history of a church and an understanding of how important they are to the cultural and historic fabric of Buffalo.”

Originated in Buffalo, the mass mob movement has garnered national and international attention. Buffalo Mass Mob has also inspired people in other cities to organize their own.

Assumption Church, located at 435 Amherst Street in Buffalo, was established in 1888 as the Polish community in the neighborhood grew.

Mass for Buffalo Mass Mob VI will begin at 11:00 AM. The Mass also marks the beginning of Assumption Church’s 6th Annual Harvest Festival taking place the same day. Following the Mass, an open reception will be held in the parish hall and complimentary coffee and cake will be served. Tours of the church will also be offered.

I think this is GREAT!!! I’m a Protestant Christian from Providence, RI and I think this should become a movement of ALL CHRISTIANS!!! It’s time we stood up for what we believe and stop being a “SILENT MAJORITY”!!! MOST Americans have religious upbringing, but with our busy lives, Christians especially, have become silent believers while other religions still support their Synagogues and Mosques. It’s time to stand up and support the churches instead of just flocking to them in times of stress and despair. Let there be a revolution of ALL the Christian faiths uniting together and supporting our beautiful churches throughout the United States as did those who founded our wonderful country. For ALL peoples the most cherished thing is a person’s faith. Let us unite and tell the world we STILL BELIEVE.
